Hello, I run a small business here in Uruguay and have bought 35 used DELL PC each with a 17 inch LCD screen model 1703FPs. One of them (GB-08Y083-47604-39M-A8W4) is now showing the following symptom: Without VGA cable attached, I connect the power cord, the DELL Logo comes on and after about 5 seconds the power LED turns from orange to green. The SELF TEST FEATUE CHECK image is being displayed for e second. Then the screen turns black. When I turn the Monitor off respectively back on, the feature check image is being shown again and the monitor returns to the black state.
When I connect the VGA cable, the PC image is displayed for a second flawless, but then the monitor returns to black. My diagnosis is a fault in the power system of the screen, maybe as simple as the power button, what do you guys get from this behaviour? How can this be solved? In addition to that, I have 2 or 3 monitors that show dead lines. They did not show when I checked the PCs the first time, but when I set them up about 3 months later, there they were. I read that this may be related to dust (if I am lucky). Now: as good as DELL Service is, documentation regarding monitors is poor. If I had a service guide, I would feel much more comfortable opening the monitors and attempting to solve the problems. If no other solution helps, I could at least replace a faulty display with the good one from the moitor with the power issue.
