On my desktop computer, running the same OS the following commands were sufficient. Install mplayer. Installing mplayer package on Debian 7 (Wheezy) is as easy as running the following command on terminal: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install mplayer. Dep: libaa1 (>= 1.4p5) ASCII art library dep: libasound2 (>= 1.0.16) [not kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386] shared library for ALSA applications.
